MOD Children's Education Advisory Service

HOPE (Health Opportunities and Prospects for Employment)

Thanks to funding from Norfolk’s Armed Forces Community Covenant, the University of East Anglia is offering a four-week employability programme to veterans and civilians who’d like to work in healthcare.

HOPE (Health Opportunities and Prospects for Employment) is an experiential programme that’s tailored to the needs of every participant. There will be a week’s intensive skills mapping, a two-week work placement within Norfolk and a fourth week preparing to apply for employment or further education opportunities.
HOPE will help veterans integrate into local life and build their experience and contacts in the community. Half of the funded places are open to veterans and half to civilian students, who’ve graduated from a Foundation Degree or Access Course in Health Studies. This mix will allow all participants to gain knowledge from different perspectives within an area of mutual interest – healthcare.

The programme runs from 1 to 27 September 2014.

Week one:
Study the changing healthcare environment
Explore your personality, past experience and learning style
Develop leadership skills
Weeks two & three:
Build upon your experience through workplace learning
Week four:
Plan for your future and prepare for employment or education opportunities

Applications close on 12th July 2014.

Common Questions About The HIVE Blog

Q. I sometimes forget to check the HIVE Blog for updates, so probably miss out on what is going and find out about events too late.

Simply enter your email address in the ‘Follow by Email’ box, (on right hand panel) click ‘submit’, and follow the activation procedure to receive a notification email every day that the Blog is updated.

By using this gadget, you will never miss any posts that may be of interest and you’ll be informed when the latest community information is available to view.

Q.There is a lot of information on the HIVE Blog, so I can’t find what I want very easily as it takes ages to scroll through it.

There are a number of ways to address this.  You can use the tabs and filters to view specific topics of information, or you can browse the list of posts in the ‘Blog Archive’ on the bottom right hand side of the webpage.

Alternatively, you can use the Blog Search box.  For example, if you wanted information on Service Accommodation, just type,  Housing into the box and the relevant post will be displayed

Q. I would like to put information on the blog such as a event I am organising. I have a poster and would like to upload it for the local community to see.

A. Simply contact the HIVE by phone or email (details are on the right hand panel of the blog home page) and they will upload your poster or information for you - free of charge.
